the letter e sounds like 'eh'
the letter a sounds like 'ah'
i sounds like 'ih'
o sounds like 'oh'
u sounds like 'ooh'
all letters have short, sharp sounds.
an e with an accent, like so "è" means IS.
il gatto è molto timido. < the cat is very shy.
an e without an accent, just a normal e, means AND.
io ho un gelato e una gatto.
i have an icecream and a cat. (yes, i know, random)
gi sounds like "##"
ge sounds like "je"
ci sounds like "chi"
ce sounds like "che"
ghi sounds like "gi" (the hard g sound)
ghe sounds like "ge" (as in 'get')
chi sounds like "ki" (as in the name chiara)
che sounds like "ke" (as in the name kevin)
